The fourth of July is almost here and we have three special events happening this festive week!
On Thursday, July 5th, our watercolor artist, Meredith Nemirov will give a free talk entitled, Awash in Color: Homer, Sargent and the Great American Watercolor.  She will share images from an exhibition at the Museum of Fine Art in Boston.  The collection of paintings ranges from 1790 through 1957.  We’ve partnered with the Center for the Arts to present this fascinating talk at 6pm at the Arts Studio of the Center for the Arts (ASCA) located at 111 Elk Avenue in Crested Butte.  Please RSVP at 970-349-5936.  Click here to learn more about the plein air watercolor class Meredith is teaching in Crested Butte starting on July 6th.
We are excited to present a new, solo exhibition entitled, Chad Smith: An Impressionist in Crested Butte.  Join us for the opening reception on Friday, July 6th from 5-8pm.  By creating multiple paintings at the same site, Smith  studies the effects of light at different times of the day. Working in the Impressionist manner, he strives to capture the “feeling” of a place through his study of light.  The exhibition runs from July 6th through July 25th.
On Saturday, July 7th at 10am, Smith will be in the gallery to give an informal talk about all of the paintings in the exhibition. Come by to hear about his painting process and his experiences painting around Crested Butte during the last two weeks.
