We did it (again)! During the 3rd annual Santa Ski Day, Crested Butte Breaks Skiing Santas Record Again. The 2015 Santa Ski Day at Crested Butte Mountain Resort was held on December 12th, 2015. Dressed in red and sporting full beards, hats and belts, hundreds of locals and visitors flocked to the resort for this family friendly, fun-filled Crested Butte tradition. From first chair until close, Santas of all ages were spotted shredding all over the mountain. Jolly participants shattered the previous record of 765 Skiing Santas, which was set last year (also by Crested Butte). This year, 827 Santas hit the slopes at the end of the day and skied or snowboarded from the Ice Bar to the base area, solidifying our reign as World Record holders. Everyone was in good spirits- even Darth Santa, who took a break from the dark side and showed up for some holiday cheer! Shortly after taking off from the Ice Bar, conditions got a little sketchy as over 800 Santas skied at once. There was a temporary pile up of a few St. Nicks at the bottom of a particularly icy patch, but no one appeared to be phased by the little fall. After the record setting run, Santas had the option to keep the party going with a Santa Pub Crawl through participating bars in Mt. Crested Butte and downtown. Be sure to put this on your calendar for 2016 and help Crested Butte keep the record going! Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas.
