Check out the newest version of the Building Plans for the New Center for the Arts in Crested Butte. They have certainly come a long ways from the converted county maintenance garage which has been host to the Crested Butte Center of the Arts (CFTA) for the last 30 years! Thirty years ago about eight thousand people attended CFTA events, and last year over forty thousand people attended. The need for a larger, never , more versatile space is clear and the project is coming together very nicely. The exterior elevations shown in the short video include a playground area, a covered outdoor stage and a picnic area. The new building will also include, a dance floor and balcony, 5 rehearsal rooms, 4 arts studios, a visual arts gallery, a kitchen for catering or culinary instruction, community meeting spaces and flexible seating for more than 300 people. The 25,000 square foot building will be ADA compliant, energy efficient and offer state of the art lighting, visual and sound technology.
In order to break ground in the spring of 2017, as scheduled, another $3.4 million (of the total $12.6 million budget) is required by September 30th. From now until September 30th, 2016 the Weekley family has put in place a grant to match – dollar for dollar – donations for the Center for the Arts Building.
