January 2016 Edition

Town Tidbits

Happy New Year! 2015 ended with a bang in Crested Butte with nearly three feet of snow falling during the Christmas holiday. Multiple powder days were upon us followed by cool temperatures- keeping the snowpack in place. A lot was going on in Crested Butte in December. Montanya Distillers released their new book Elevated Cocktails: Craft Bartending with Montaya Rum, which is now available in the tasting room on Elk Avenue or online. The World Record for the Most Skiing Santas was broken again as 827 skiing and snowboarding Santas made their way from the Ice Bar to the base area during the annual CB Santa SkiIce sculptures from the Rock on Ice Carving Festival are on display at Mountaineer Square and the town is as charming as ever with snow capped roofs and lights everywhere.

The New Year is already filling up with awesome events and activities. In January, Crested Butte will be hosting the Mountain High Music Festival which benefits Tough Enough to Wear Pink and the Crested Butte Adaptive Sports Center. The first ever Fat Bike World Championships will be held January 27th through the 31st in and around Crested Butte. Team and individual races will be held at multiple locations and there will be a chance to demo some fat bikes too! Coming in February, the Aston Martin - On Ice 2016 Ultimate Drivers Day will be held at a private ranch in Crested Butte. This exclusive event allows participants to drive on a custom built track under the professional instruction of  the Aston Martin Team. When registering for the Aston Martin event, please mention that you heard about it here.

The Biery-Witt Performing Arts Center is painfully close to their fundraising goal. With over $24mil raised to date, $9.4mil in 2015 alone, leaves just $3mil more needed. The Biery-Witt Center, with an auditorium seating 500, will be a sanctuary for culture, art, music and education and will positively impact the local economy from Mt. Crested Butte to Gunnison. Please join me by donating to this worthy addition to our community.

What's Happening in the Real Estate Market
