Check out these 9 double black diamond runs in Colorado that’ll make you say “Nope”. It’s no surprise that Crested Butte boasts the top 2 Black Diamond Runs on this list of “Nopes”.  With Body Bag in the number one spot, this run is not for beginners! In the number 2 spot is a local favorite, rumored to be one of the 7 scariest ski runs in the world, Rambo. With 381 vertical feet, Rambo is the steepest ski run in North America.
Not quite ready to tackle Rambo or Body Bag?  There are 7 more Double Black Diamond runs on this list to get your blood pumping.  You’ll have to find a local to tell you how to get to Crazy Ivan 2 as it’s not on the Breckenridge trail map. To the south you can check out Two Smokes at Silverton Mountain, an area also popular for it’s heli-skiing. Arapahoe is known for having some seriously steep slopes so it’s no surprise that they make number 5 on the list with East Wall Traverse. Head back to Breckenridge and hike to 9 Lives which makes number 6 on the list. Loveland may look tame from the comfort of your car but Wild Child will leave you breathless at an elevation of almost 12,500 feet.  Head up north to Steamboat and drop into Chute 1. And last but not least, way out west you’ll find Sunlight Mountain just outside of Glenwood Springs. The Heathen brings up the end of the list with one of the steepest inbound runs in the state.
So whether you’re a skier or snowboarder, this list is sure to be challenging at the least. Have fun out there and most of all, stay safe!
