Fall is a wonderful time to get out and hike the Crested Butte Trails: Three Lakes Loop via Lost Lake. A popular destination for hikers, campers and fisherman, this trail offers spectacular mountain views and brilliant fall colors that Colorado is known for. This fairly easy trail is approximately 2.8 miles long and will take you to some of the most beautiful scenery Colorado has to offer. Enjoy mountain lakes, beautiful aspen forests and views of surrounding mountain peaks. From Crested Butte you will drive through golden aspens forests over Kebler Pass to the turnoff for Lost Lake. As you near the lake, the forest opens up and gives way to colorful aspens. Take in the beautiful scenery of Lost Lake and the towering mountains that surround this alpine gem. Continue on to a beautiful waterfall, just a short detour off the main trail and well worth the time. Continue on to Dollar Lake, a great spot to stop for lunch or a snack. The trail then loops around Lost Lake bringing you back to your vehicle. A great hike, this loop should take one about 1.5-2 hours to complete, a perfect day hike.
