As we head into the Spring off-season the April calendar features plenty of fun local events, music, and off-season activities. It’s that time of year, Flauschink is here. Join the fun and help flush out the season as we celebrate 50 years of Flauschink. The festivities kick off at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, April 4th with the Annual Slide Show hosted by founder George Sibley at the Crested Butte Museum. Meet at the bottom of the Silver Queen Lift at noon on Friday, April 6th for the Royal Run. Dust off your dancing shoes and mark your calendar for the Flauschink coronation at 8:00 PM on Friday, April 6th at Bonez. Polka the night away with Flauschink “has-beens” and be there for the crowning of the new King & Queen of Flauschink. The 50th Annual Flauschink Parade starts at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 7th with the Royal Pub Crawl starting around 8:00 PM. Celebrate the end of the season with a BBQ and beverages on Flauschink Hill all afternoon Sunday, April 8th. Trout Steak Revival, Westword’s “Best Bluegrass Band” in 2016 and 2017, will be performing at the Center For The Arts on April 6th. The Rijks Family Gallery will be holding Sketching in The Gallery on Wednesday nights throughout April so bring your sketch pad and favorite pen or pencil and exercise the right side of your brain for the evening. Registration is now open for the 2018 CB3P (Crested Butte Pole Pedal Paddle). The CB3P is a multi-sport, endurance race starting in Mt. Crested Butte, working it’s way down the Gunnison Valley and finishing in Gunnison. A fun event for participants as well as spectators, mark your calendar for April 29th and the CB3P. Montanya Rum Distillery kicks off their year long 10th Anniversary Celebration with a big bash on April 7th. Stop by between 6:00-11:00 PM for live music and the release of a very limited Montanya Anniversaria Rum. While town is much quieter during the off-season with many shops and restaurants closing up for the month of April, you can still find good eats at The Last Steep. A local favorite, The Last Steep has been voted “Best Bloody Mary” and “Best Hamburger” in the Crested Butte News’ annual “Best of” publication.
