As we ramp up for another fun filled summer here in Crested Butte be sure to check out the many great local events and activities. You’re not going to want to miss the 4th of July festivities. Start your day out early with the 50th annual Gothic to Crested Butte 1/3 Marathon, benefiting the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory. Stop by the Crested Butte Fire Station for a delicious pancake breakfast and support our local Fire & EMS volunteers at the Crested Butte Fire & EMS Volunteer Squad’s 44th Annual Pancake Breakfast. After a great breakfast, make your way over to Elk Avenue and take in the impressive Crested Butte 4th of July parade at 11am, including a water fight for the kiddos at 1st and Elk. Head down valley to the Gunnison 4th of July Festival which runs from 6:00am to 10:00pm. Though the Crested Butte/Mt. Crested Butte fireworks have been cancelled due to fire danger, the Gunnison 4th of July fireworks display starts at 9:30pm. You can catch great free music at the Monday night Alpenglow concerts at the Center For The Arts. The Crested Butte Music Festival runs July 5th – August 8th so be sure to check out the lineup of amazing performances. The Crested Butte Wildflower Festival runs from July 6th-15th with lots of great hikes and walks as well as photography classes, art workshops and garden tours. Check the local weatherbefore heading out for the day as we will be soon going into our “Monsoon Season”. Hit the mountain this summer July 4th – September 14th for Crested Butte Mountain Resort’s Extended Twilight Hours. Don’t forget to visit the Crested Butte Farmer’s Marketon Sundays from 10:00am to 2:00pm throughout the summer for great local produce, art, jewelry and culinary delights. Rodeo fans aren’t going to want to miss the 118th Cattlemen’s Days July 6th-15th. Rodeos are the 12th, 13th, and 14th. With so much happening in the month of July there’s sure to be something the whole family will enjoy. Mark your calendars now for the Mt. Crested Butte Town Picnic on August 2nd.
