As we head into the mid-summer season we kick off August with a local favorite, the Crested Butte Arts Festival, starting August 3rd and running through the weekend. This nationally recognized festival is in it’s 46th year and features incredible art, delicious cuisine, fantastic entertainment and activities for the kids. Come check out the open-air booths that line historic Elk Avenue as well as the food court, beer garden and wine pavilion. The Alpenglow Summer Concert Series runs each Monday evening through August 20th with talents such as Shane Smith & The Saints on August 6th, Lipbone Redding on August 13th and the Tin Men on August 20th. Bring your lawn chairs, some snacks and take in the wonderful music to the backdrop of alpenglow on the Butte. Historic Walking Tours of historic downtown Crested Butte are available Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the month of August through the Crested Butte Heritage Museum. Hit the downhill late into the afternoon, Crested Butte Mountain Resort and the Evolution Bike Park have Extended Lift Hours for Twilight Wednesdays through August 15th and Fridays through September 14th. The Live! From Mt. CB Summer Concert Series runs through August 15th bringing some really great free music to the mountain on Wednesday nights. Con Brio will be playing Wednesday, August 8th and the Dustbowl Revival will be playing the final Wednesday night concert on August 15th. The hiking and biking conditions have been great this summer with the long warm days but keep in mind that weather conditions can change in a short amount of time.
