What should only take a couple of hours often takes 4+ hours on a busy weekend in either direction. Most Denver locals and those flying through DIA tend to make a beeline for Summit County skiing leading to ski traffic nightmares.

A round trip drive to Crested Butte from Denver on the weekend can be less than driving to and from almost any Summit County resort. Not only is the drive shorter, Crested Butte has a more down-to-earth vibe than some of the larger resorts.
