From the Desk of David Ochs at the Crested Butte/Mt. Crested Butte Chamber of Commerce:
2016 is off and running, and it seems we did some great things the last few weeks here in CB and Mt. CB!  We’ve heard a lot of great stories of happy visitors and guests, and our little village sure was bustling!  January is looking better than it has in the past, so let’s keep it up!
The Chamber is full steam ahead with Fat Bike Worlds, and if you haven’t heard, we’ve added Lez Zeppelin to the mix to play after Worlds.  We’ll have a new poster out for the event  today, and please help us share it near and far to spread the word to come out here for a great event, a great outdoor concert ($5), and a great weekend.  ‘Like us’ on Facebook – both the Chamber and Fat Bike Worlds, and help us spread the goods. All together, we can reach the masses!  Let’s get a bumping January going and make this an annual staple in our repertoire!

We continue to roll with a lot of energy and momentum with this event.  With Lez Zeppelin coming, and the concert ending around 5/5:30pm on Saturday, we may see a lot of folks in town.  So Saturday the 30th may be a day to reinforce the troops and be prepared for some folks hitting the Town after the concert.
Check out the website HERE for all the latest in details with the race, Lez Zeppelin (tickets HERE – buy them in advance and just flash your receipt for quick entry), and all the other action around the 5 days that is Fat Bike Worlds.
VOLUNTEER! If you want to get in on the action, get in on the swag and the downright good times, we’ll be looking for some of the regular local action to help bolster the event.  Our events are often the culmination of a great local contingency on course and providing lasting memories!  Email me here, or Eliza at eliza@cbchamber.com.  Let us know which day/s (Thurs, Sat, or Sun) you are available to help out with.
XtreamInternet announces enhanced Internet service
XtreamInternet is starting the New Year with enhancements to its Internet service that are typically only available in metropolitan areas.   XtreamInternet has contracted with Denver based Massive Networks to provide residents and businesses in Gunnison County direct connectivity to the rest of the country using all the major fiber providers, such as Level3 and Zayo. This multi-carrier approach insures the highest quality and most reliable internet service.  “Our direct connection results in a more responsive, consistent and, most importantly, reliable internet experience,” stated Cara Apsey, Director of Operations.
“We take a proactive approach to customer service and support, constantly monitoring and managing our network so we can deliver the highest performance Internet, which is a different focus than most other providers” explained John Rasure, PhD, Owner and CEO of XtreamInternet. XtreamInternet users have access to better than broadband speeds, low latency, symmetric speed for cloud applications and high quality connections for VoIP phones. Rasure assures, “We are constantly working to give our customers the best internet experience in the Valley.”
The Federal Communications Commission recently reported that 53% of rural Americans lack access to broadband internet service (25 Mbps down / 3 Mbps up). Rasure states, “There has been a great deal of talk about the need for broadband internet in Gunnison County but XtreamInternet is the only provider that has systematically been expanding its broadband network to provide service to underserved communities in Gunnison County”. XtreamInternet provides better than broadband speeds to over 200 square miles of remote Gunnison County including the Ohio Creek Valley, Jacks Cabin, Skyland, Nicholson Lake, Gothic and more.
If you would like more information, or to find out if Xtream is available in your area, call 970-305-5855or visit www.xtreaminternet.com.
