November 2020 Edition


With the transition of the season I would like to announce to you all the transition of ownership and leadership at the Crested Butte Collection. Following a magnificent 15 years in Crested Butte growing my business, I am happy to announce my retirement, effective today. Kiley Flint of LIV Sotheby’s will be now heading up the Crested Butte Collection.  Erin Renfro will remain with Kiley to be at your assistance.

It has been a busy year and it has been with great pleasure that I have assisted both new and repeat buyers and sellers transition their properties amidst such an emotionally charged, pandemic filled year.  I am pleased you are now, all friends.  As the sole, licensed broker of the Crested Butte Collection I have led this year’s market to date, with total transactions under contract and sold of nearly $75m.  I was also the market leader in 2019 with total sales of “just” $43m.  The market is active and hot! It is with great excitement that much opportunity still exists for you all in the Gunnison Valley.  After years of watching, observing and evaluating other agents, both up and coming and seasoned, to potentially take over caring for my clients, I could not be more excited to encourage you all to redirect your real estate needs to Kiley Flint of LIV Sotheby’s. I am confident she will help fulfill your real estate opportunities!  Kiley has taken over the Crested Butte Collection name and leadership position and I am proud to leave it in such outstanding hands! Kiley is a seasoned, detail oriented and established, top agent.  We have grown up in a sense in Crested Butte together as colleagues over the years. I have watched her dedication to clients and admired the investment she makes in her clients, as well as in herself to constantly evolve and improve. Kiley has a strong work ethic and personal strategies for your success.  Please continue to trust my advice and reach out to Kiley if you need anything prior to her having the opportunity to formally meet you.

As for myself, I am fulfilled and hence, I am departing.  I have always known my potential and capacity for achievement, but I could have never imagined the magnitude of the return I would gain in terms of support and dedication from you all, my clients and friends. To the number of you that are consistently repeat clients, I thank you for your trust.  To the number of you that were referred to me through friends or family, I thank you for trusting them.  To the number of you that found me at the Crested Butte Collection through your own search, I thank you for trusting your instinct. Your continuous reviews as a testament to my character and performance humble me.  The job is stressful and your comments and extreme satisfaction with my service have sustained me. I will be leaving the Crested Butte area however my personal properties here will remain (for rent too) and we shall return one day.  For now, my family and I have secured a home on the French island of Corsica in the Mediterranean.  Good days will be spent with the little one enrolled in public school, immersed in a change of perspective and culture, and with Kristine and I among friends hiking peaks, climbing granite faces and sunsets on the beach.  Bad days, well, I imagine they will be spent scratching my head trying to learn French while absolutely slaughtering the beautiful romance language.

Crested Butte Collection ranked #1 for volume and #1 for quantity of transactions in Gunnison County for 2019. Crested Butte Collection is currently leading the market in 2020 with nearly $75m closed and under contract.*

Current market conditions

Residential sales volume through October was $247,856,377 which is up an incredible $100,311,902 from last year along with amount of transactions (274 compared to 182). The average sales price, $904,585, is up almost 11% from $810,683 last year. Currently another 85 properties are under contract totaling $94,940,599, 34 of which are listed at $1mil or more including including a Smith Hill Ranches estate listed by our office for $4,950,000.
