Flauschink is here and the 2021/2022 ski season is coming to an end. Crested Butte will be celebrating the final week of ski season and beginning of spring in true Crested Butte fashion. Born into tradition in 1969, Flauschink was dreamed up by a handful of locals. It was a way to “flush out” the winter and celebrate another great ski season that had come and gone. Now, 54 year later, that tradition continues strong each spring. More than just another excuse to “get it on and party” Flauschink has become an annual ritual. A way for us to “flush winter down the drain” and send off another ski season with a bang.

2021/2022 Flauschink Schedule of Events

Flauschink festivities kick off on Wednesday, March 30th.  Don’t miss the Annual Slideshow and Storytelling presented by local historian Duane Vandenbusche. Town folks and visitors are invited to the Crested Butte Heritage Museum to learn the history of how Flauschink came to be and its place in Crested Butte tradition.

Thursday, March 31st, meet the current King and Queen at the bottom of the Silver Queen Lift. They’ll be taking their final “Royal Run” at noon. The infamous Polka Party and Coronation Ball will be held Friday, April 1st. Head to Kochevar’s where the 54th King and Queen of Flauschink will be crowned. Afterwards, polka the night away to the Peter Dunda Polka Band. Much fun is to be had by all as we dance into the wee hours of the night.

Saturday the Annual Flauschink Parade will be held on Elk Avenue. Come honor the new King and Queen and to celebrate 54 years of Flauschink tradition. Later that evening, folks can meet the new King and Queen as they make their way around town during the Royal Pub Crawl. Closing day is Sunday, April 3rd. We look forward to gathering on Flauschink Hill and spending the afternoon enjoying BBQ, beverages and great friends while celebrating the close of another great ski season.
