Drum roll please… Crested Butte wins Best Ski Town 2016! This year Crested Butte is at the top of the rankings for Best Ski Town in USA Today’s Annual “10 Best”. The twenty ski towns in North America that were nominated for the prize were chosen by an expert panel and then put to a vote. Online voters, loyal ski bums, locals and USA Today readers chose their favorite ski town and it is no surprise to us that Crested Butte won. While many more famous (and glitzy) ski destinations seem to have traded in their small town charm for a more corporate vibe, Crested Butte holds tight to the unique character that keeps people coming back again and again. The funky downtown atmosphere, top of the line dining, great apres ski options, genuine customer service, activities for the whole family, convenience of the free town shuttle and comparatively more affordable prices are just a few of the reasons why Crested Butte remains the Last Great Colorado Ski Town. For some, the reasons why they love Crested Butte have more to do with what the town doesn’t have – like chain restaurants, traffic (on the roads or on the slopes) and pretentious or rude locals. Of course it tends to be a little more difficult to get to, but once you arrive you have the chance to experience the heart and soul of a town that thrives as a winter and summer vacation destination.
