Mt. Crested Butte has a mix of single family homes, larger ski in/ski out properties and mountain condominiums with easy access to the resort and the town of Crested Butte. See the subdivision descriptions below for specifics on each neighborhood.

The town of Mt. Crested Butte is nestled high in the Rocky Mountains three miles north of Crested Butte. The small town is home to Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) as well as residential subdivisions, condos, dining, shopping and outstanding views of the West Elk mountain range. At an elevation of nine thousand three hundred seventy-five (9,375) feet above sea level, approximately eight hundred (800) residents call Mt. Crested Butte home year round. The ski area has over fifteen hundred (1,500) skiable acres with 121 total runs, 15 lifts and a mix of beginner, intermediate and advanced runs for all abilities.  At the summit, the elevation is twelve thousand one hundred and sixty-two (12,162) feet. The ski area offers winter and summer fun. The Adventure Park, located at the base area offers miniature golf, bungee trampolines, and a climbing wall as well as a tubing hill. In the summer, Crested Butte Mountain Resort runs two lifts, allowing hikers and mountain bikers access to the 23 trails and over 30 miles of single track. The base area has a variety of restaurants and outdoor shops that are open during the winter and summer months. Easy access to the town of Crested Butte is available year round with the free town shuttle.

SUBDIVISIONS

Elk Run ~ One of Mt. Crested Butte’s most coveted neighborhoods, Elk Run prioritizes the seclusion of each parcel. Large parcels combined with mature aspen groves provide maximum privacy for the mountain homes in this neighborhood. Elk run owners also have access to the Gold Link Homeowners trail, providing easy access to skiing at Crested Butte Mountain Resort.

Gold Link ~ A smaller community, with only 30 home sites, Gold Link has a prime skier/mountain biker friendly location. Large high-end homes are perched on a hill, offering commanding views of Teocalli Mountain, Gothic and White Rock.  Adjacent to the Gold Link Chair lift, homeowners in the entire neighborhood have easy access to the ski resort via the Homeowner’s trail year round and the Snodgrass trail in the summer.

Overlook ~ One of the most prestigious and protected neighborhoods in Mt. Crested Butte, Overlook has views that overlook the town of Crested Butte,  meadows, streams and the massive peaks of the West Elk mountain range. Each home site is enveloped in privacy as mature aspen groves and significant distance separate the sites from each other.

Pitchfork ~ The residential neighborhood on the west end of Mt. Crested Butte has 100 home sites, 30% of which are affordable housing for qualified Gunnison county residents. The neighborhood has innovative architectural design, with elements of the mining and mountain culture. Single family homes, cottages and condominiums make up this desirable and affordable neighborhood.

Prospect ~ Located on the northwest side of the mountain, the Prospect subdivision is Mt. Crested Butte’s premier ski in/ski out location. Residents have access to both the Gold Link and Prospect chairlifts from their parcel, offering extremely convenient ski access and maximum time for relaxation. This relatively newer neighborhood still has several undeveloped parcels, awaiting their ultimate mountain dream homes.

The Summit ~ Located on the southwest side of Crested Butte Mountain Resort, the Summit is one of the few ski in/ski out communities. The views include the rocky Mt. Crested Butte, Red Lady and Axtell. Ski access is granted via the West Wall lift in the winter and many mountain biking trails are easily accessible in the summer.

Wildhorse at Prospect ~ A master planned luxury community with 55 home sites. Located next to the ski slopes, these mountain homes have incredible views of the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness and the Upper East river valley.
