“Epic” snowstorm forecast for mountains

Travel Information A storm “of epic proportions” could drop up to 8 feet of snow on parts of Colorado’s high country and at least 3 feet on most areas of the southern and central mountains, the National Weather Service warned Monday

The winter storm warning that began Sunday continues through midnight Tuesday, with snow continuing in some areas until Thursday, forecasters said.
At best, snow and wind could shut down some mountain passes and make travel difficult or “perhaps impossible at times,” the weather service warned.
Monday night travelers lumbered across snowpacked Interstate 70, slowed further by accidents and 20-minute “metering” traffic stops to regulate the flow and give room for plows and sand, according to the Colorado
