Greetings!

Summer has arrived here in Crested Butte!!  This means the rivers are running full and fast – even more so this year as we received a tremendous amount of snow.  With all this moisture, the lupines are putting on quite a show already.  It looks like a fabulous year for wildflowers!Below are two recent paintings by Shaun Horne that reflect this year’s early summer. “Slate River, High Water” shows the extra water in an area that usually includes the river winding around the wetland.   By the final painting sessions for this piece the water was running so high that Shaun had to stand with his feet in the water.  “Aspens and Lupines, 2011″ is his largest wildflower painting to date.  This 40 x 40” painting is easy to walk right into and forever enjoy the summer sun and lupines.
Please let us know if you would enjoy either of these perfectly “Crested Butte” early summer paintings.

All the best, Ivy and Sarah

Shaun Horne, “Aspens and Lupines, 2011″, 40 x 40”, oil on canvas, pure plein air, $7900 unframed.
