The 2015/15 tax tallies show a strong increase in spending at Colorado ski resorts, including Crested Butte. It was another stellar winter and ski season in Colorado. Of the seven high country communities surveyed — Steamboat Springs, Aspen, Vail, Breckenridge, Winter Park, Crested Butte and Telluride — each saw sales tax records in every month of the 2014-15 ski season. That’s good news for both high-country locals and visitors as towns spend more on services, facilities and infrastructure.
During the peak months, December through March, visitor numbers soared. Not only did they surpass the previous season, they rose above the high-water marks of the 2007-2008 season. Though actual skier numbers are not yet out, the spending metrics show that we have recovered from the recession.
