Gunnison River Whitewater Park
The Gunnison Valley is a favorite destination for many adventure seekers and offers up a variety of fun outdoor sports. The Gunnison River Whitewater Park is a favorite summer spot for locals. Built for canoeing, kayaking and rafting, it’s not uncommon to also see people surfing the waves created by the strategically placed rocks and boulders. Later in the summer months, when the water levels are lower, The Gunnison River Whitewater Park is also a great spot for the family to go tubing. Keep in mind, kids under the age of 13 will need to wear a life jacket. Located just a mile or so from downtown Gunnison, Colorado, off of Highway 50 where it meets County Road 38, the Gunnison River Whitewater Park is easy to get to either by car, bike or even on foot. There is a small parking lot at the entrance to the park. You can also float there from other up-river locations. Not so much into water sports? That’s alright, The Gunnison River Whitewater Park is a great place to just hang out for the day so bring a cooler, pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the  scenery.
