Crested Butte’s 4th of July Parade is The Biggest Small Town Celebration Around! Right around the corner, the 4th of July just may be the busiest day of the year in our little mountain town. The morning kicks off with the Crested Butte Fire & EMS Volunteer Squad’s Pancake Breakfast. This annual tradition goes back almost 50 years! Visitors and locals alike line up early to get a plate full of hot pancakes and sausages while the kids enjoy Ladder Truck rides. This is the main fundraiser for the Volunteer Squad and is such a good cause.

Next up is the annual 4th of July parade. With 40 or so floats, Crested Butte’s 4th of July parade is one of the biggest small town parades in the country! You’ll see everything from local families, businesses, athletes, and classic cars. We’ve got it all! And of course, bringing up the rear with lights ablaze, is the Crested Butte Fire Protection District and their shiny firetrucks and ambulances!

After the parade, everyone heads up to the west end of Elk Avenue for the annual water fight! Expect to get wet! Armed with squirt guns and water balloons, kids and adults alike have a great time. Watchout for the fire department however, they bring out the big guns with their firehoses!
